Liverpool Cafe Scientifique is a place where anyone can come to explore the latest ideas in science and technology in a friendly and sociable atmosphere. It is a forum for debating science issues and promoting public engagement with science.
When and Where:
Meetings take place on the second Tuesday of the month at 7.30pm in either the Old Book Room or the Old Conference Room, at the Hope Street Hotel, Hope Street, L1.
A speaker gives a talk for about half to three quarters of an hour. The speaker is usually a scientist from the world of academia but the talks are designed for a general audience with little or no knowledge of the subject. The talk is followed by a short break to replenish drinks and allow people to get to know each other. After, there is a Question and Answer session where all kinds of questions may be asked, opinions expressed, and views discussed. There is then a further opportunity for social engagement.
All events are free although a small donation may be asked for to cover expenses.
